Cora "Mamaw" Miles March 7, 1913-Jan. 17, 2009 last modified January 20. 2009 10:42AM Cora "Mamaw" Miles, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Monroe, passed away January 17, 2009, at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. Born March 7, 1913, she was the daughter of Columbus and Hattie (Eads) Friar. She married Charles Miles in 1930. Sadly he preceded her in death in 1993. Mamaw lived a full life. She was a founding member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. She was also an original member of the Raisin River Horse Riders Club of Dundee and a member of the Monroe County Fair Association. Cora and her husband donated money to help start the fair. She drove school bus for many years for the Dundee community, where she also managed the Dundee Coin Laundry. In addition to the Dundee community, she also worked for Reisig Cleaners in Monroe. Cora leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Clyde (Ruby) of Mt. Pleasant, a daughter, Phoebe (Ken) Moore of Monroe; 2 grandchildren, Terri (Bob) Braman of Milan and Marc (Molly) Moore of Monroe; 6 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Alex Braman, Payton, Nicholas, Nolan and Madeline Moore; she is also survived by her step-grandchildren Billy, Ernie, Tracy, LeaAnn, Paula and Peggy. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul in 1966, a grandson, Todd Moore in 2004, a sister, Grace Riley and a brother, Charlie Friar. |
