Clara M. Miller July 6, 1917-May 28, 2008 last modified May 30. 2008 10:32AM Clara M. Miller, age 90, of Dundee died at 10:30 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at the Bortz Health Care Center in Ypsilanti. She was born in Petersburg, Michigan July 6, 1917, to Kenneth and Amelia (Kibler) Gee. She married Marvin (Bud) Miller on March 14, 1938, in Napoleon, Ohio. He died September 26, 2004. She was a graduate and class valedictorian of Petersburg High School Class of 1932. She also graduated from Beauty School in Toledo. She owned and operated the Budget Beauty Shop in Dundee from 1956 until 1972. She loved playing cards, reading, knitting and crocheting and was a member of St. Irene Catholic Church in Dundee. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home in Dundee. She will lie in state on Monday, June 2, 2008, from 9:30 AM until a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM at St. Irene Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Michael Woroniewicz, pastor of the church. There will be a Rosary recited Sunday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. There will be a funeral luncheon in her memory following the service at St. Irene's parish hall. Memorials may be made to any charity of the donor's choice. Her survivors include her two sons, Daryle (Beverly) Miller of Dundee and Roger (June) Miller of Adrian; five grandchildren, Kerry Miller (Mary Jane), Kara (Ray) Roe, Brian (Theresa) Miller, Jason (Kim) Miller and Matthew (Tricia) Miller, also fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Weiss, and two brothers, William Gee and Ronald Bird. |

Robert Eugene Lowery Jan. 6, 1919-May 27, 2008 last modified May 29. 2008 10:31AM Robert Eugene Lowery, age 89, of Dundee died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born in Success, Arkansas January 6, 1919, to John Robert Lowery and Elsie Mae Osborne. Bob was a Dundee barber for 35 years, starting in 1951 when he first moved to town. He was also a self-employed cement contractor for 20 years. He served as a Dundee Village councilman for 13 years and was Village President (Mayor) from 1974-1978. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II from 1942-1945 and was stationed at North Africa, Italy and France. He is a member of the Harry W. Bamm American Legion Post # 72 and the Moore-Lenz-Wakefield VFW Post 6462. He was an avid golfer, hunter and gardener. He is a member of Dundee Lodge # 206, Knights of Pythias, the Ye Olde Hunt Club of Dundee and the Dundee Golf Club. Survivors include his three daughters: Sue (Stanley) Toburen of Safford, Arizona, Kaye (Rene) Diaz of Willcox, Arizona and Myra Lowery of Clifton, Arizona; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Norma Jean Kalisz of Paris, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his son, Ben C. Lowery, his very special friend, Kathy Reaume, four brothers and four sisters. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM services Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Cover Funeral Home in Dundee. Military services will be conducted by the Dundee Veterans Memorial Group. Rene G. Crombez Oct. 22, 1918-Sept. 27, 2006 story updated September 28. 2006 11:06AM Rene G. Crombez, 87, of Monroe died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday in his home. He had been ill.Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Capaul Funeral Home, Ida. He will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida. The Rev. Aaron DePeyster and the Rev. Jeff Poll of Brighton will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg.Born Oct. 22, 1918, in Detroit, he was the son of Jules and Mary (DeNorna) Crombez. He married Laila Payne June 27, 1942, in Deerfield.He was a self-employed blacksmith and welder for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He also had worked in experimental welding at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and was a janitor at Dundee High School.Mr. Crombez was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church,Ida, and a former member of St. Irene Catholic Church,Dundee, where he sang in the choir and was an usher. He also was a member of the Executive Club of Dundee, Dundee 4th Infantry Civil War Re-enactment and National Rifle Association. For many years he rode his high-wheel bicycle in Dundee parades. He was an artist and a member of Rod, Iron and Woodcarving.Surviving are his wife; a son, Rene "Terry" of Dundee; a daughter, Corliss (Ron) Heiden of Dundee; a sister, Corabelle Hehl of Dundee; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Crombez.Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida, or Ida Township Volunteer Fire Department. |
