LUZERNE - Sylvia A. Steele, 61, of Luzerne, formerly of Dundee, died from injuries
sustained in an auto accident Friday.
Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, where funeral
services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. the Rev. Don F. Thomas will officiate. Interment
will follow at Luzerne Cemetery.
Born April 13, 1943, in Monroe, she was the daughter of Owen Sidney and Eileen Lily
(Miller) Gilbert.
She grew up in Dundee and moved to Luzerne in 1990. She was active with Campfire in
Dundee, where she was a leader and board member. She attended Prince of Peace
Lutheran Church, Ida.
Since moving to Luzerne, she was employed as a cashier at Glen's Market, Grayling. She
enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading books and crocheting.
Surviving are her mother; three daughters, Jodi L. (Paul) Poirier of Mio, Kimberly
(Jeremy) Meadows of Fort Polk, La., and Rebecca (Raymond) LaBush of Luzerne; four
brothers, Sidney (Mary Jo), Gary (Kathy), Paul and Robert, and three grandchildren.
